Sarah Schlote

I am a bilingual (English/français) and neurodivergent Registered Psychotherapist in private practice, originally from Eastern Ontario / Western Québec but currently living in BC on the traditional territory of the Secwepemc people.
I was first introduced to SE in my master’s degree in counselling psychology at the University of Victoria in 2006 by David de Rosenroll, and completed my SE training in 2013 with Berns Galloway and Kathy Kain. Other SE-related training I have done include: Touch Skills Training with Kathy, Somatic Resilience and Regulation with Steve Terrell and Kathy Kain, introduction to NeuroAffective Touch with Aline LaPierre, working with pre- and peri-natal (PPN) trauma with Kate White, working with shame with Bret Lyon and Sheila Rubin, and a master class with Peter Levine on body reading and developmental trauma where I was selected to present a case.
My work is also informed by EMDR, Brainspotting, parts work, Deep Brain Reorienting, attachment theory, psychodynamics, Indigenous Tools for Living, diversity and culturally-affirming practices, ethology, relational rupture and repair, among others.
I am a colossal nerd and enjoy deep diving into nuances and subtlety. This led me to create EQUUSOMA®, a training program looking at the application of SE and other frameworks to equines and humans as clients in various scopes of practice, which is officially licensed via SEI. I have also presented for SEI on the intersections of neurodivergence, trauma, and SE, and on SE for animals.
Assisting is one of my favourite things to do, and it’s a joy to be joining you all!
